About Big Mouth Productions
Based in New York and founded in 1997 by Julia Pimsleur and Katy Chevigny,
Big Mouth produces social-issue documentaries that inform and entertain a
diverse audience. Big Mouth’s documentaries have covered a range of
topics including: the U.S. criminal justice system, transracial adoption,
diversity and tolerance in America, and alternative healing. Big Mouth films
have premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, the Berlin International Film
Festival, South by Southwest Film Festival, and the Hollywood Black Film
Festival. They have garnered awards at Cinema Du Reel Film Festival, Outfest
LA, the Urbanworld Film Festival, the New York Latino Film Festival, and
the National Council on Crime and Delinquency and have been nominated for
IDA awards. Funders include the Donnet Fund, the ET Harmax Foundation, the
Ford Foundation, the Funding Exchange/Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media,
the Independent Television Service (ITVS), the Jerome Foundation, the National
Black Programming Consortium, the Playboy Foundation, the Soros Documentary
Fund, and the Women in Film Foundation.
